What is Melanotan I?

Melanotan I (MT1) is a synthetic peptide derived from α-MSH (melanocyte-stimulating hormone), designed to stimulate the natural production of melanin. Unlike Melanotan II, it acts in a targeted and selective manner on MC1R receptors—specifically involved in skin pigmentation—without the broader systemic effects observed with MT2.
